Twenty-five publishers of community and alternative newspapers met October 26 with Ald. Manny Flores and won an agreement to redraft an anti-littering ordinance to remove language that could criminalize common methods of distributing free newspapers.

Flores promised to amend a new section of the city code that set fines up to $1,000 for “leaving stacks of paper on the ground,” according to Ron Roenigk, publisher of Inside, who first reported on the measure and moblized publishers to voice concern.
