AUSL then failed and was turned around and who got to try next? AUSL! They got a second chance, unlike the schools mentioned in the article who chose the SLI method, one that actually works. CPS cronyism at it’s finest, using Chicago’s children as lab rats in a profit machine. http://www.substancenews.net/articles.php?page=3100

So on a more personal level I feel that the change in the school made a major difference in my children s ISAT scores, and grades. There curriculum challenges their mind on a higher level. I in no way agree with what CPS is doing now by any means because if it where my children’s school closing I would feel the same as some of you. But I am all for turnaround school and AUSL.

Just shameful. Maybe 5he mayor’s office will listen when parents hold their children out of school for the first 21 days. This will hold up money coming to Chicago public school. Maybe then attention will be given to this injustice.

We had reached 61% of our students at grade level on the ISAT , an all-time high for us and double where we were 10 years before. No matter how we fought, we lost and Casals got its 5 Million renovation and became AUSL. In the Fall, when scores came out, we saw that even in that horrible year (our school was on the hit list since Nov. 2011) Casals increased to 69% of its students at meets/exceeds on the ISAT. Oh, and we also had a brand new principal ( hired Oct. ’11), just like the article mentions.
The typical pattern of AUSL is in effect at Casals now. Enrollment has dropped by about 100 students ( we left the school at 500) – wonder which kids have left ?
