League of Chicago Theatres
Founded in 1979, the League of Chicago Theatres is an alliance of theaters that leverages its collective strength to promote, support and advocate for Chicago's theater industry locally, nationally and internationally. The League serves a diverse membership of more than 160 theaters ranging from storefront, non-union companies with limited budgets to major cultural centers with multi-million dollar productions. Audience development programs include the network of seven area Hot Tix locations and the Play Money gift certificate program; Chicagoplays.com, which logs up to 500,000 hits per week; consumer promotions including the ongoing "From the Streets to the Seats" integrated marketing campaign; publication of the new monthly theater program magazine Chicagoplays, with average monthly circulation of 150,000; and the Chicagoplays Theater Guide (circulation: 60,000/bimonthly), found in hotels, theater lobbies and tourism kiosks throughout the Chicago area.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, headquartered in White Plains, NY, is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. The Society’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Leukemia Research Foundation
The Leukemia Research Foundation, headquartered in Wilmette, Ill., is dedicated to funding research and providing support to people affected by blood cancers. The Foundation’s mission is to conquer leukemia, lymphoma, and myelodysplastic syndromes by funding research into their causes and cures, and to enrich the quality of life of those touched by these diseases. For 60 years, thousands of volunteers and 24 chapters have helped the Foundation raise more than $35 million to help fund research specifically targeting aspiring, eager, and innovative scientists and physicians around the world.
Lillstreet Learning Center
Lillstreet Learning Center (LSLC), is the not-for-profit sister organization of the Lillstreet Art Center. Founded in 1989, LSLC provides free and low-cost arts education and community-based arts programming in schools, hospitals, and other community centers throughout Chicago. That means when children can’t afford arts education, we provide it for them. When people are overlooked, or under funded, we find a way to provide them the hands-on, life-enriching, arts education experience we believe is so valuable to all their lives – and to ours.

With over 1.4 million members in 200 countries, Lions respond immediately with humanitarian service to disasters both at home and abroad through countless volunteer hours, time and money. Locally, Lion volunteers, both men and women can be found collecting used eyeglasses, conducting vision screenings, helping the needy, working in schools, purchasing glasses and many and varied other community service projects following their motto "we serve".

Literacy Volunteers of Illinois
Literacy Volunteers of Illinois is a statewide organization committed to developing and supporting volunteer literacy programs that help families, adults and out-of-school teens increase their literacy skills.
Services offered by LVI include tutor recruitment and referral, staff and tutor training, and advocacy. LVI also sponsors the Jump Start program which recruits and trains volunteers to serve as tutors in the Illinois Youth Centers.
Literacy Works
Literacy Works promotes adult and family literacy in Chicago through tutor training and support services to adult literacy, ESL, and family literacy programs—especially those relying on volunteers. LW also reaches teen/adult learners directly through parent education and writing workshops. Founded in 1995 by four literacy programs seeking to share strengths, LW now has member agencies in 30+ Chicago neighborhoods. Literacy Works believes that literacy is a human right as well as a needed skill.
Literature for All of Us
Nationally recognized as an outstanding provider of arts and humanities programming for youth, Literature for All of Us brings the rewards of literature and poetry and celebrates the creative voices of young people. Using the book group model, the program develops critical thinking skills, a deepening understanding of the world, and a lifelong love of literature and learning. In our book groups in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in Chicago and nearby Evanston, young people are "making sense of the world" as they are "making sense of the word."
We collaborate with high schools, G.E.D. programs, and after-school providers to offer weekly book group programs that include book discussions and poetry writing. Each group designs and publishes their own poetry anthology. We also invite the community to hear them perform their poetry at public readings. We serve 500-600 young people each year.

Its services include high quality and affordable services tailored to the needs of Chicago-area charities. Lumity helps to illuminate the community by enabling hundreds of nonprofits do their good work better, through the application of relevant technology and financial tools. Lumity is also the home of a range of special programs meeting nonprofits’ particular needs, including CompuMentor/Chicago, which matches technologically-skilled volunteers with nonprofits needing specialized technology assistance; NPO.net, an online information service for the philanthropic sector that includes Chicago’s premiere nonprofit job posting site; and the Community Technology Center Accelerator, which addresses the Digital Divide by providing assistance to community technology centers (CTCs) throughout the Chicago area. Founded in 1867, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is a statewide, not-for-profit social service agency of the three Illinois synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America with more than 100 program locations. LSSI’s services include counseling, mental health programs, substance abuse treatment, residential treatment for children and adolescents, early childhood education and child care, programs for adults and children with developmental disabilities, foster care and adoption, housing and services for older adults and individuals with disabilities, nursing care, and programs for prisoners and their families.

They work full-time in various positions ranging from direct social services, to political advocacy, community organizing, education, and activism while living in intentional community.
