National Alliance for Autism Research
The mission of the National Alliance for Autism Research is to fund, promote and accelerate biomedical research and science-based approaches that seek to determine the causes, prevention, effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for autism spectrum disorders. This mission includes providing grants to researchers for innovative, new pilot studies; mentoring fellowships to recruit new researchers to focus on autism; and funding larger, collaborative research programs that have the potential to yield major scientific advances in autism research.

National Alliance on Mental Illness - Cook County North Suburban
NAMI Cook County North Suburban (NAMI CCNS) is a not-for-profit advocacy organization of families, friends, patients and professionals dedicated to the treatment, rehabilitation and recovery of persons with brain illnesses. Our mission is to give support, education, resources and referrals to the families of those who suffer from neurobiological disorders. To the afflicted themselves NAMI CCNS offers support and opportunities to connect with one another and to work for the betterment of those affected by mental illness. We offer several psycho-education workshops for caregivers and professionals, offer housing information, support and advocacy. NAMI CCNS is affiliated with NAMI National and NAMI Illinois, providing advocacy at three levels: local, state, and national.

The National Association of Asian American Professionals is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all-volunteer organization whose mission is to promote the personal and professional development of the Asian American community. NAAAP-Chicago is one of 16 chapters, ventures, and affiliates belonging to NAAAP throughout the nation. Our Mission NAAAP-Chicago provides opportunities for professional development, community service, social networking, and cultural awareness. In other words, everything we do is in service of enhancing the Asian American community and society as well as the Asian American experience. History Founded in 1982 in New York City as The National Association of Asian American Professionals Inc., NAAAP has evolved to become the premiere leader in Asian American Professional organizations in North American with an audience of over 3,000 across the continental U.S. and Canada. The Chicago chapter of NAAAP was founded in 1987.

Spasmodic dysphonia (SD) is a neurological voice disorder that involves involuntary "spasms" of the vocal cords causing interruptions of speech and affecting the voice quality. The mission of the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association is to advance medical research into the causes of and treatments for spasmodic dysphonia, promote physician and public awareness of the disorder, and sponsor support groups for patients and their families.

No New Nukes

No Wooden Nickels
No Wooden Nickels is a non-profit, charitable organization through its MedStart-5 program dedicated to providing indirect or out-of-pocket expense assistance to low-income cancer patients while undergoing treatment (chemotherapy and/or radiation). Our geographic focus are mostly those underserved communities within the Chicago area. Assistance is provided through out the State of Illinois and limited resources provided for outside of the State. There is also help for current students of cancer families as well as a donor-to-recipient match program. Our community outreach includes an annual health fair for men held each October.

Noah Learning Center
Noah Learning Center just obtained its 501(c)(3) from the IRS in November of 2004. We are looking to open our doors as a new afterschool program in the Englewood community by October 2006. The purpose for our existence is to improve the academic achievement of impoverished children living in an underpriviledged neighborhood by implementing the, 'No Child Left Behind Act'.

The Mission of the North Cook County Soil and Water Conservation District is to provide information , education, and guidance in the conservation and wise use of natural resources within the District by: 1. Educating the public and encouraging local governments to plan, pass and implement ordinances for protecting health, safety and the general welfare of the people of the District and its soil and water resources. 2. Work with all residents and units of government in protecting and increasing public lands. 3. Assist communities in understanding the need to identify, preserve, and enhance our natural communities of forests, savannas, prairies, and wetlands as well as areas that serve as important wildlife habitats. 4. Provide assistance in protecting the wetlands, lakes, and rivers in our communities from damage caused by point and non-point source pollution, flooding, erosion and sediments.

NIFB has grown tremendously - currently serving over 500 food-assistance sites in 13 northern Illinois counties. In 1995, Northern Illinois Food Bank relocated its headquarters to St. Charles, IL. In 2001, the Lake County Branch was opened in Park City, IL. In 2005, the Hunger Connection became a branch of Northern Illinois Food Bank in Rockford, IL.
